How Can I Help?
1. Become a teacher
Additional teachers are needed to add to the 14
volunteer teachers on board who faithfully take 1-2 hours a week to
teach a program class. This is needed to expand our GED program. If
you are interested, or you know someone who might be willing to
donate 2 hours a week to faith-based teaching, call 302 629-2559. It
is very rewarding work.
2. Provide a Meal Once a Month
Evening meal prep has been a program
at the mission for 7 years now. Many churches, church groups and
community organizations provide an evening meal for 20-25 men one
night a month. We currently have 7 open nights per month. If you,
your company, your church or your organization could provide a meal
one night a month, contact Will Nuttall at the Mission at 302
629-8824.
3. Prayers
Perhaps the greatest need is to sustain this ministry
in our community. Please pray for the Mission of Hope, especially
that God gives his protection and continued grace upon His work that
is done here. If your heart is so led to any donation of food,
clothing or financial (no matter how large or small), please know it
is humbly and gratefully appreciated by staff and residents alike.
4. Vehicle Donation Program
One of the most helpful contributions
is when we can re-establishing transportation for recovering
residents, to and from jobs. These men are all starting over from
scratch and a vehicle is essential to getting back into the
workplace. Your donation of a vehicle, running or not, is greatly
appreciated AND tax-deductible. We provide all necessary forms or
paperwork you will need. To donate a vehicle, contact Paul Alexander

5. Be a Mentor
Complete the Mission-sponsored training course for
mentors. Become a mentor to a specific individual in each class.
Feel the fulfillment of personal encouragement and enlightenment.
6. Help Raise Funds
Visit businesses and philanthropic
organizations to bring the Mission story. Help stuff envelopes with
requests for contributions. Talk to your friends about monthly
giving. Remember the Mission in your will. Help keep the good work
of the Mission going forward by helping to fund its work.
7. Link your MVP card at Food Lion
This will NOT interfere with
the discounts you receive. Just send us your 12 digit MVP card
number (include small digits) and the Mission of Hope will receive
credit toward an annual contribution for every purchase you make.
